Wow. Originally just a fun project to try to make my first mobile app (and originally only for Android), NoSurge has hit over 11,000 installs on the Google Play Store! I’ve learned a lot in the process, and have also released it for Windows, and just released it for iOS after multiple requests. Thank you for your downloads (and for those of you have contributed to my In N Out runs via clicking the ads.) These first few months I’ve had in the Bay Area have been great ones!
I’m hoping to make a similar app for Lyft to find a way to avoid PrimeTime pricing but alas, despite many people asking for it, cannot make an app that shows you both Uber Surge and Lyft PrimeTime values in one app, as that is explicitly against both Uber and Lyft’s developer terms. Sorry y’all.
Please send any and all feedback on NoSurge to nosurgeapp@gmail.com (or leave a comment below) and let me know how I can make it better. So far many of the problems since launch were unfortunately related to some discrepancies in how Uber was providing surge values in their API versus those seen in the real world, which I had no control over.
However, big shout out to the Uber Developer team as they quickly fielded my feedback once I realized that the issue wasn’t my app, and let me know pretty promptly that they fixed it.
Here’s to another 11,000 installs, hopefully some on iOS, and maybe a person or two will even install it on Windows 😉
Thanks for all your support!
Brendan
I am an Uber driver and use your app everyday – it is great! I just switched to a new phone and I don’t see the NoSurge app on the Play Store anymore! Is it still available?
The bad news is Uber made Google take the original app down for having “Avoid Uber Surge” in the name 🙁
The good news is that I’ve reuploaded the app, and you can find it here, exactly the same as the last version, just without “Uber” in the title!

Thank you so much Brendan!! As soon as you replied to let me know that the app was on Google Play Store I downloaded it and wrote a review. You have literally made my day. I am active on an Uber driver forum and am going to let everyone know about your app as well. Thanks again!
Thanks so much! Haha, so historically driver forum visitors have given my app more 1 star reviews more than anything else, but I always have thought that drivers can use this to position themselves to capitalize on surge just as easily as riders can use it to avoid it! Hopefully the forum will see the upside of this app too 🙂
Cheers,
Brendan
Hi Brendan! Thank you for your app! Not sure if you are aware, but app has stopped working in post-CIS countries area after Uber union with Yandex. Is it possible to fix it somehow?
